A Look Back at the Launch of Our Zine: More Feminist Than You Think!
On Thursday, March 5th, as International Women’s Rights Day approached, we shared an inspiring moment at the Femmes Entre-Elles women’s centre in Chandler. The launch of the zine More Feminist Than You Think! was a true success, proving that feminism on the Gaspe Peninsula and in the Magdalen Islands is more vibrant than ever.
We had the immense pleasure of welcoming about thirty people who came to discover this collective project led by the Table’s mobilization committee. The energy in the room was palpable, reflecting a deep need for solidarity and authentic exchange.
Demystifying Feminism in Rural Areas
As our colleague Sara Ternoir so aptly pointed out, this zine was born from a simple observation: we must continue to demystify feminism. «The idea is to reach out to people who might not necessarily identify as ‘feminists,’ but who hold values deeply rooted in the movement.»
By addressing the specific challenges of living in a regional context, the zine helps build bridges between generations and shows that equality is everyone’s business.
Generations Stand Up!
This launch is part of the provincial campaign Generations Stand Up, a nod to the historic journal Québécoises deboutte! launched over 50 years ago. To be «deboutte» is more than a posture—it is a political stance, a refusal to back down in the face of social or economic pressures. It is proof that from one generation to the next, the struggle for a just and free society continues.
